Here is some information regarding the group I am creating a project on:
Throughout the years, airsoft has changed due to increasing technology and cheaper cost of ownership of the guns themselves. In the beginning of airsoft in the US, it was mainly older folks that participated in this hobby (Age 25 and up). Due to technology advancements and Chinese replication of Japanese guns, the cost of ownership has come way down from where it was initially. As a result, many younger players are becoming involved in this hobby. As times have changed, many airsoft games have migrated towards the “speedball” or paintball style of play rather than the military simulation style that initially separated airsoft from paintball. There is a group however, based in the Chicagoland area that is dedicated to military simulation airsoft and keeping the hobby going as it was initially intended. This group is called the Chicago Airsoft Association. The association and its members are dedicated airsoft enthusiasts who “emphasize honor, integrity, camaraderie, and good sportsmanship.” They have standardized rules, safety rules and equipment requirements. CAA runs their own private airsoft events with exclusive membership to ensure the highest standards of play. Members are expected to follow all rules within the charter or they are expelled from membership. This association has made leaps and bounds in organizing airsoft games, running events, and giving the younger crowd something to aspire to.
