Saul Bass, filmmaker, animator and title sequence designer

"Saul Bass (May 8, 1920 – April 25, 1996) was an American graphic designer and filmmaker, but he is best known for his design on animated motion picture title sequences."

Bass designed title sequences for directors such as Preminger (Man with the Golden Arm, Scorcese (Casino), these notes are derived from Wikipedia

Psycho Title sequence

Also check out Casino (1995), in which he designs with very different technologies. Look for the similarities to his the work he did 40 years earlier.

Finally, check out "Why Man Creates" of which this is just a segment.
