Sampling

A sample is an extract of information drawn from a linear bunch of data. We sample tiny clips of sound and video from tape and other time-coded material when we dj and vj.
A sample is a slice of a quantity taken from something over time. Look at how these two representations are alike- in that they are visual representations of the quantity of something (amplitude, pollution) over time.
